“ Went there for lunch with a party of 6. Service was quick and attentive. Loved the Taylor Swift themed cocktails. While pricey, the drink was tasty and quite strong. I got the falafel burger for my meal which was delicious and fresh tasting. The truffle fries were perfectly seasoned and made the perfect side dish. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items. ”
“ Came for the Short Rib Gnocchi, and my goodness I would come back for that again and again. Seriously, one of the most delicious gnocchi dishes I have ever had in my life!! Pillowy gnocchi, rich cheese sauce, topped with perfect braised short rib - I would love to have this for my last meal. We also got the Calamari to share which was excellent - tender not overcooked like they can be at times, excellent homemade tartar sauce, generous portion, came out very quickly after we ordered it. My friend got the roasted chicken and she enjoyed it! Generous portion there as well! 4 stars not 5 because dessert fell a bit short considering how excellent the meal was (we got the Orange Chocolate Tart - it tasted a few days old, the crust was like a brick to cut through) and we felt a bit rushed during dinner by our server. It was busy but not insanely packed, so we weren't sure what was going on there. *Shoulder shrug* - it didn't take away from how delicious the Gnocchi was! :) ”
“ I don't like giving out 5 star ratings. I just don't. I think it limits my ability to award 4 star ratings; it means I have to review like 5 places that must get assigned into the 3-4.5 star range before I can put another in the unicorn bin. Dammit, (as paradoxical as this sounds) I don't like finding ridiculously good dishes or places...not during the meal, but when I comes time to write the Yelp review a day or two later. Because it means I want to go back. Like now. Usually once I've left that town. This is the Boston edition of that sentiment. So, some outliers and biases: it was my first time in Boston. It was snowing its ass off and it was nearly violently cold. It's was the holidays. I had literally just become engaged. The stars, quite simply, were aligned. For soup. French onion soup. On the garden level of Newbury Street the Scientist and I trundled down icy steps and into Eva for lunch service. It's a cozy downstairs bar set up on the garden level for lunch service. Warm, if not slightly bright, seating along the walls and a few low bar tables. Decent sized bar where the staff was waiting come the 2pm hour. Driven inside by snow and wind, we were part of a late Back Bay lunch rush. It's a trip, so I'm over ordering. She got soup to start. Ok. I'll be her Huckleberry and dance the soup dance. She went chowder. Meh. I went continental. Cheese, bread, beef broth in soup form. Why yes. Yes, please. This shit is depthy as Challenger Deep in the Pacific Ocean. Your taste buds think they're at the bottom, then BAM!, the salt reveals the cognac, and now the onions have a pungent sweet that wasn't there a second ago. Do that again, get a piece of bread that's been drowned in said soup, and it that but more. If they offered chairs with seatbelts, I would recommend sitting in one of them. The salad she got as a main was gargantuan. Lots of very fresh lettuce, and then- what am I talking about here? She loves salad. I don't. She said it was great. The fra diavolo pizza was exceptional as well. The shrimp were cut down and places on an extra thin and flexible base, with the Calabrian peppers doing the flambé act on my tastebuds. A touch of red sauce and not too much cheese let the feature ingredients highlight the taste. The crust had a solid bite and had some pull. An average texture-wise pie was knocked up by how good the topping presentation was. And usually, a single dish that isn't to the moon pulls you out of five star status consideration. So why not here? Three words: French onion soup. French onion soup, that is, to this moment in my culinary ramblings across most parts east of the Mississippi, the best I've ever had. ”
“ Absolutely adored this spot! We came for a pre-dinner happy hour and ordered some cocktails and small plates. Of course we were obsessed with the Taylor Swift themed cocktails all named after her songs! So cute! The staff was also so accommodating to our group that was 3 people larger than our original reservation. We all loved their spinach artichoke dip and the mezze which came with a choice of 3. As a fan of Mediterranean spots, I loved their muhammora! The pita was perfectly crispy and salty. 10/10. Would absolutely come back here next time we're in Boston! ”
“ I was walking around Newbury street and decided not to Yelp but to just try out a spot with a cute patio and boy was I in for a treat! The menu looked amazing and it WAS. It was French meets Mediterranean with a splash of coastal and the wine menu is VERY French. I was seated immediately in a quiet section with several booths on the entryway wall. The ambiance is gorgeous and the booths are definitely cozy but far enough apart to not feel like a cafe. The waiter greeted me immediately, gave an impressively thorough rundown on the menu and sold me on the lamb chops. Sue me, I love lamb. So it was lamb and Syrah, which is hard to find and high key my favorite red!!! The one was PERFECTION. The lamb chops though?!??? I was ready to jump up and down in my seat. A happy dance does not do credit to what I WANTED to do with a single taste. First of all, there were three chops- fresh, well cut without a ton of fat, but lamb is lamb, and seasoned well but not over-seasoned thankfully, because the couscous was DIVINE. I've had couscous in many preparations, but never like this! Spicy, creamy, tomatoey, and the absolutely perfect seasoning foil for the lamb. The broccolini, which I typically love, though, was meh. The stalks were thin, but incredibly fibrous, making them very nearly inedible chewy... fortunately, there were only three small pieces lol. It really was the perfect micro portion, but every bite was perfection. Because everything was so good, I tried to order the flourless chocolate torte because I knew that my taste buds deserved that experience. Alas, they were out. I "settled" for the banana bread pudding with whipping cream and berries. Epic. The berries were fresh and crisp and the banana was not overdone. I don't think they do anything poorly and I hope to return to Boston and visit again. ”
“ Eva is located in the very center of Newbury Street in Boston. We were drawn to dine here because of the shaded outdoor patio, that gave us a good view of the very busy street in Boston. Of course, the menu that was posted outside was another seller. Our waitress was lovely, she was chatty, friendly, patient and quick. We got two pizzas, the Four Cheese and the Eva Supreme. We also got the Spinach and Artichoke Dip and the Mixed Mediterranean Salad. The dip arrived first. It was a bit spicy with the paprika flakes on top. It was very tasty, and the pita bread was fresh. The salad was very similar to a Greek salad, it was huge, with plenty of fresh ricotta. The pizzas were much larger than I expected. The Four Cheese pizza was my favorite. It is a thin crust pizza, with the most delicious cheeses layered, including some very thin apple slices. This was a masterpiece of a pizza, super flavorful and delicious! The Eva Supreme was a pepperoni pizza with some additional toppings. This was ok, if your favorite is a pepperoni pizza, then you will like this. We had a wonderful time at Eva's. Their food is fresh and delicious, the service is excellent. I'd love to stop by the next time I'm on Newbury Street. ”
